Arzella George Obituary

ARZELLA was born October 19, 1942 in Forrest City, AR to the late Earnest and Fannie Mae Smith- Baldwin. She was the second child born to this union. She graduated from Lincoln High school in Forrest City, AR. Arzella professed her life to Christ at an early age. She began her walk with God at Shady Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of former pastor Rev. C. Hill. She was united in holy matrimony to James W. George, Jr. Out of this union 5 children were born: Lurita, Tracye, LaShawn, Kimberly, and James III. Arzella and her husband moved to Gary, IN in 1964 after he was discharged from the Army. During her years of faithful service to God, she has served on various committees, including the Nurse’s Guild and Mother’s Board. Arzella loved reading her bible, praying for and with others, spending time with family, laughing and wearing a smile on her face. Arzella became employed with Bethlehem Steel Mill in Burns Harbor, IN. She was a highly skilled Electrician within the company. Arzella retired after 27 years of dedicated service. To know Arzella is to love her. It seemed as if there was no end to her love for her family and friends. She was a loving and caring mother, sister, aunt, family member and friend. She could always bring a smile to your heart. She was a mother figure to many of her children’s friends, many of whom affectionally called her “Ma”. She was proceeded in death by her sisters: Emma L. Hudson, Allie M. Anderson; and brothers Earnest N.L. Baldwin and Jessie Baldwin. She leaves to cherish her memory, children Lurita (Allen) Youngblood, Tracye George, LaShawn George, Kimberly (Roy) Shurn, and James (Jackie) George III; eight grandchildren, Jarrius Bass, Jonathan Lackey, Jazmine Dodd, Jamal Harmon, Kelly Shurn, James George IV, Lanaya George, and Chase Shurn; one brother Eddie (Sadie) Baldwin; two sisters LenDora Hawkins and Stella Baldwin; goddaughter Rita Harper; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends.
