Mittie C. Smith

Mittie C. Smith was born April 19,1923 to parents, Luella and Eugene Fuller who preceded her in death.  Mittie passed away Friday, August 23, 2019.  Resident of Gary, Indiana (Tarrytown) moving there with her son and husband Samuel Smith in 1954.  He preceded her in death.  A graduate of Wendell Phillips High School in Chicago, Illinois and attended Oakwood College.  Mittie worked various jobs during her lifetime. Clerk, J. C. Penney's, Teacher's Aid and her last job working for Jeffrey and Francette Williams Family as a Home Attendant.  They were her extended family.  Mittie was a member of Israel the Church of Jesus under teacher, Elijah Israel.  She leaves to cherish her memories:  Son, Keith Rose, Sr.; Daughter-in-law, Willean Rose; grandsons, Kevin (Kimberly) Rose and Keith Rose, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Anthony Rose, Jailyn, Nekwan, Jordan, Jayla and Cyncere Rose; 2 great-great grandson; 3 nieces, Patricia (Tim) Watson, Beverly Taylor, Theresa (Calvin) Miller; nephew-in-law, Isaac Clark, Jr.; great nieces; great nephews; Williams Beamon Family, Conda Family, family and church family to cherish her memory.  Husband, parents, 3 sisters, great-granddaughter, nephews, nieces and friends preceded her in death.  The family will receive family and friends for a visitation on Friday, August 30, 2019 from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the Ridgelawn Funeral Home, 4201 West Ridge Road, Gary, Indiana 46408 - 219 980-5555.  Funeral services will be private at Mittie's request.
