Xinh Waddell, age 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 3, 2019 with her loving and devoted family by her side. She was born to the late Le Van Cung and Trieu Thi Nghanh on June 20, 1935 in Saigon, Vietnam. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Orlando Sherwood Waddell, her parents and 3 brothers.
Xinh leaves to cherish her loving memories, 2 sons, Be (Linda) Waddell of Neenah, Wisconsin, Thomas (Shelly) Waddell of Portage, Indiana; 4 Daughters, My-Patricia (Eric) Turner of Gary, Indiana, Kim (Robin) Hardison of Jasper, Tennessee, Ramona Kelley of Merrillville, Indiana and Renee (Tracey) Gillis of Crown Point, Indiana; 20 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; and 1 brother Le Van Tot of Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam
Xinh will be remembered as a loving and caring woman of virtuous character, resilience, selflessness and compassion. She opened her heart to so many people and was a mother to many. She had a knack and love for cooking especially her famous eggrolls, hamburger sticks and orange “cheese” noodles. She also was an impeccable seamstress.
The joy that Xinh found with her family and friends will be her lasting legacy. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren especially during weekly dinners at her home. Her devotion and commitment went beyond family, as she provided kindness to all that crossed her path.
Words of Remembrance Service, celebrating the life of Xinh Waddell will be at 11 am on Saturday, February 16, 2019 in the Main Chapel at the Ridgelawn Funeral Home, 4201 West Ridge Road, Gary, IN 46408 (219) 980-5555. Xinh will be greatly missed by her loving and devoted family and precious friends. God Grant Her Eternal Peace.
