Obituary

Abraham M. Rivera, age 90, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2022.  Abraham was born on March 16, 1932, in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico to Visitacion Rivera and Emerita Miranda.

On August 23, 1958, Abraham married the love of his life, Monserrate Torres. 

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Monserrate; his parents; and siblings.  Abraham leaves to cherish; six loving children; Betty, Abe (Diane), Edwin (Tami), Ruben, Bobby (Amada),  and Mary (Brian); two sisters, Carmen and Delfa; ten wonderful grandchildren; Zacharey, Megan (John), Matthew, Nikolas, Jacob, Brianna (Naz), Haylee, Hayden, Grace, and Dalton; three precious great-granddaughters, Penelope, Emma, and Zoey.

Abraham was a hardworking provider for his family and those he loved.  He retired from LTV Steel with thirty-two years of dedicated and loyal service.  He believed in education, and always saved money for a "rainy day".  Abraham's favorite quote was "your friends are in your pocket".  Abraham was the jokester of the family.  He knew exactly how to make people laugh !  He will be truly missed !

Visitation Wednesday, April 6, 2022 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. with Funeral Mass  12:00 p.m.- 1:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana.  Burial Ridgelawn Cemetery.   

All attendees are required to wear a mask, vaccinated or unvaccinated.  NO EXCEPTIONS !!
