Alberta M. Burton-Jansen

Alberta "Bert" M. (Burton) Jansen, age 91, passed away late Sunday evening on July 3, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving family. 

Mrs. Jansen was born July 23, 1930, to Ernest and Laura (Holding) Burton in Brown County, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bernard "Barney" A. Jansen, to whom she married on December 9, 1953; her parents, Ernest and Laura Burton; her loving daughter, Emily J. Walker; and her loving son-in-law, Eddie E. Skimehorn; and nine siblings.

Mrs. Jansen leaves to cherish a lifetime of memories : her loving sons, Ernest J. (Patricia) Jansen, Harry G. (Melissa) Jansen, and Charles  Christy, Jr.; her loving daughters, Bernadine M. Skimehorn, and Teresa L. (Stan) Willoughby; six step-children, thirty-nine grandchildren; fifty-five great-grandchildren; six great-great- grandchildren; and three siblings, Von, Bill, and Theresa.

Mrs. Jansen was an Avon Representative for over thirty years, 20 years of which she held a presidents club title.  She enjoyed bird watching, playing bunco, and being the president of her very own neighborhood watch.

Visitation will be Monday, July 11, 2022, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. with Funeral Services 12:00 p.m.- 1:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana, with Chaplain Bill Phillips, officiating.  Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery.  "Bert" will be deeply missed by her loving and devoted family and many dear friends.  MAY GOD GRANT HER ETERNAL REST.
