Alec Bilal Dunigan, affectionately known as “Ace”, “Ace Butta” and “B” 39, transitioned into the next life on Tuesday June 6, 2023. Alec was born in Chicago, IL to Bilal and Patricia Muhammad on October 5, 1983.
Alec was a 2002 graduate of the Emerson School of Performing Arts. As a band major he played the oboe, holding 1st chair for many years. He also played the alto saxophone for Emerson’s Jazz Band. Alec attended the University of Northern Iowa majoring in Communications and Broadcasting.
Alec accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at Family Christian Center where he attended several years. He went on to join the faith community of An Open Door Church in Hammond, Indiana.
Alec was the ultimate picture of optimism, from the beginning of the Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis until the day he took his last breath he never stopped believing he would recover and overcome the illness achieving all his many goals and aspirations.
Alec was everyone’s friend, brother, cousin and uncle. Everyone! He loved people. Alec never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Leroy and Mary Lou Dunigan and Deloris and Eugene Rice. Alec is survived by his father Bilal Muhammad, mother Patricia Dunigan, sister Shameelah Jackson, Uncle Alex (Corlis) Dunigan, Uncle Farid Muhammad, cousins Jamila (Kevin) Dunigan Miller, Jarina Dunigan, Alex Leroy Dunigan II, and Caymen Dunigan and a host of other relatives and friends.
