Alfred Alexander Connell, Jr. was born October 5, 1954, in Gary, Indiana, to Sarah and Alfred A. Connell, Sr.
Al was the eldest son of five boys. He accepted Christ at an early age and even served as an altar boy, who'd have thought that ! He graduated from West Side High School Class of 1975. At the age of seventeen Al met fifteen years old, Shirley, they later married in 1979, and to this union they gained three children, Rashaun, Alexis, and Alexander.
Al worked briefly at U.S. Steel, and at the time was offered an opportunity to an apprenticeship at a furniture workshop, on the recommendation of a designer by the name of Joan Blutter, of Blutter and Schiff. Al didn't take it at the time because his first child was born. Later in his career after having a stroke, Al retired from The Park of River Oaks Condominiums.
Al was creative and gifted with the ability to design, especially having a great deal of passion for landscaping. Al loved music, especially, Robert Clay, he played the congas and increased his culinary skills to include spaghetti because we knew if he was cooking, it was going to be one of four dishes and now, it was five.
