Amelia Lara

Amelia Lara, age 93, of Gary, Indiana, passed away on August 16, 2021.  She was born on May 13, 1928, to Alberto and Rita Dorado in Laredo, Texas.  Amelia was married to Sacramento Lara for 55 years.

She was a longtime member of St. Luke's Church in Gary, IN. and a member of Las Guadalupanas, and Sociadad Mustualista Mexico.  She spent much of her time in the kitchen at home and at church.  Amelia was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to all of her family.  She will be deeply missed and held deep in our hearts forever.

Amelia was preceded in death by her loving husband, Sacramento; son, Patrick; and parents Alberto and Rita Dorado.

She leaves behind her loving children, Augustine (Linda) Lara, Maximino Lara, Federico Lara, Yolanda Chabes, Leticia Villarreal, Laura Delgado and Raymond and Diana Jimenez.  Loving sister, Lucia (Greg) Uvalle, twenty-three loving grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren, and many loving relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 24, 2021, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 12:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana.  Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery.
