Ana Luz Irizarry-Colón had a graceful passage on Friday, June 24, 2022, after 74 years of life. She was born on March 7, 1948, in Peñuelas, Puerto Rico, to the late Julián Irizarry-Morales and Hilda Arroyo-Irizarry.
Luz was a 1967 graduate of Horace Mann High School and later received her Associates Degree. She was a retiree of Ameristar Casino and enjoyed spending her free time outdoors, caring for her yard and spending time with family. Filled with compassion and kindness, Luz was a great support system to anyone in need, and was a ray of light to anyone who was blessed to know her.
Luz was preceded in death by her loving parents; older sister, Ana Amelia Irizarry; and younger brothers, Ismael "Papo" Irizarry and Ismael "Tito" Irizarry.
A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and niece, Luz is survived by her four children, Christine, Jesse, Steven (Caridad) and Julián (Kristal); ten grandchildren, Chauncey, Jestine, Vanessa, Breanna, Julissa, Camille, Julianna, Ariyanna, Julián Jr., and Steven, Jr.; sixteen great-grandchildren; three sisters, Julia (Jack), Esther, and Irma (Edwin); two aunts, Irene and Miriam, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 2, 2022, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. with Funeral Services 12:00 p.m.- 1:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana, with Father Theodore Mens, officiant. Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery.
