Anita Alcedine Moulton-Edwards, 89, of Gary, Indiana transitioned to her heavenly home at 11:33 a.m. on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Methodist Southlake Hospital in Merrillville, Indiana.

Anita was born July 5, 1932, in Birmingham, Alabama to Lillian Beatrice Fields-Moulton and Russell M.V. Moulton, Sr.  She was a January 1951 graduate of Parker High School.  Anita married the love of her life, Alfred Vance Edwards on April 19, 1951.  The two moved to Gary, Indiana in 1953 and began what we call the Edwards family.  She obtained her Bachelors in education from Purdue University Northwest graduating class of 1974 in Hammond, Indiana.  She became a teacher of the Hammond and Gary school system, teaching Pre-K at Banneker Elementary at Ambridge, and Eggers Middle School in Hammond, Indiana.

Anita was a devout woman of God and loved to sing praises unto His name.  She was baptized at 16th Street Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir.  Upon arrival in Gary, Indiana, she became a member of New Mount Moriah Baptist Church- Rev. L.J. Harris and later Van Buren Baptist and Koinonia M.B. Church.  She joined St. John Baptist in 2015, where she was also a choir member.  She was an active soloist as well as singer with the Voices Of Love, Gary Civic Choral and the Non-Denom.  She served as an usher at the Westside Theatre Guild.  One of Anita's greatest achievements was the speaker for Parkers 50th class reunion in California.  One of her greatest experiences was to sing at Carnegie Hall in Manhattan, New York.  She received an award for attending all the PTA meetings for all of her beautiful children.

Anita leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Darien Rene' Edwards of Gary, Indiana; sons, Malcolm Rowen Edwards of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Patrick Mallory Edwards of Indianapolis, Indiana; special son, Larry Henry; grandchildren, Derrell, David, Millicent (Glenn), Lillian, Kwame, Jelani, Elisia, Jeremiah, and Mallory; great-grandchildren, Michael, Asia, Simone, Kaliyah, De' Shaun, Kayden, Zyaire, Aubryee, J'Sye, Ellianna, and Marley; sister, Marjorie Yvonne Blankenship; sister-in-law, Eunice Jean Moulton; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, nephews; special children, grands, nieces, nephews, and FRIENDS.
