Anne Miranda

Mrs. Anne S. Miranda, age 88, of Lake Station, IN., passed away on Friday, April 11, 2025. Anne was born in Akron, Ohio on October 5, 1938, to Kenneth and Louise Etling. Anne met her true love, John in the summer of 1956 in Miller, Indiana. They were married for 64 years before his passing. Their love created 6 children: John (Elizabeth) Miranda, II, Deborah (Keith) Miranda-Soderquist, Mark Miranda, Eric (Vickie) Miranda, Scott Miranda, Sr., and Annemarie (Russell) Miranda-Molden. Anne always found endless joy and laughter with her 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her 6 children.

Throughout her life, Anne was active in her community. She played water ball with the ladies auxiliary at Camp 133 Fire Department. She taught ceramics for a few years. She and her fellow Camp 133 volunteers enjoyed hosting Saturday night Bingo. Anne was a devoted Catholic who contributed and supported charitable causes and organizations She was a Vice Precinct Committeewoman. She belonged to the Lake Station Democratic Club. Anne worked for the City of Lake Station as a Code Enforcement Officer/ Animal Control. She drove a shuttle bus for the Indianapolis Airport, having the unique opportunity to meet Elton John, Metallica, and several WWE wrestlers.

Anne had a special love for raising animals, like chickens, rabbits, ducks, and a few horses. She would attend farm auctions and would return home with new animals to add to her growing farm. She took pride in caring for her animals and sold fresh eggs to her community. She also enjoyed car rides along the beach, and bonfires with her husband.

Anne will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her life as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend will forever live on in our hearts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Salvador Miranda, Sr.; her father, Kenneth Etling; her mother, Louise Etling; and grandson, Trent Miranda.

Visitation will be Friday, April 25, 2025, from 2:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408.
