Antonio Silvino Gutherez, age 81, passed away peacefully in his sleep after a very short battle with cancer on March 25, 2021. He was a lifelong resident of Hammond, IN. and the Northwest Indiana area. He proudly enlisted and served his country in the United States Marine Corps from September 1957- March of 1961. His hobbies included reading his bible, biblical books, watching television, as well as spending time with his family and friends. His favorite words to his friends and family as they walked out the door was "God Bless You in that big old world."
Antonio was born in Aurora, IL. on February 12, 1940 to John Gutierrez and Delphina Carrillo Fidas. He obtained his General Education Diploma in 1990 at 50 years of age, proving age is just a number and education is important. He was a devoted husband and father, and always strived to take care of his family. He loved reading the bible and sharing the Gospel of Yahshua-Jesus with the world. He retired from Ford Motor Company and worked there many years as a forklift operator. His last job was working as a security guard in Gary, IN.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Leona Puchek Gutherez; daughter from his first marriage, Kathleen Gutherez-Brower; children from his second marriage, Marisha Gutherez, Antonio Gutherez, Michael Gutherez and Samatha Gutherez; grandchildren, Antonio Gutherez-Lopez, Kay M. McDaniel, and Jordan J. McDaniel; father of the White children, Christopher M. White, Sr., Christopher M. White, Jr., Daniel J. White; great-grandson, Donald D. Cole the 5th,; brothers, Jesse Gutierrez and Joseph Gutierrez; sister, Josephine Paldino. He had so many godchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends, that are too numerous to list, but he loved each and everyone of them dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Juana Gutherez, brothers, John Gutierrez and Jerome Gutierrez, and nephew, Johnny Gutierrez.
Visitation will be Friday, April 2, 2021 from 10:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. with Funeral Services from 12:00 p.m. -1:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, IN. Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery. Condolences can be sent to the funeral home c/o the Gutherez Family.
