Arthur Lopez, age 75, passed away peacefully at home on April 3, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife, Sylvia and family.
Art was born in Chicago, Illinois, and eventually settled in Northwest Indiana, where he was employed at LTV Steel for over thirty years. He was an amazing bass guitar player and played with several great bands throughout his musical career. As he got older, he loved watching his Bears with his great-grandson, Anthony every Sunday, or going to the movies with his great-grandson, Jaxon any time he could, even though he most likely would fall asleep. He loved his Sox, his movies, his popcorn and his sweets. Art's faith in God was strong. He was a longtime member and choir director of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in East Chicago, Indiana.
Art was preceded in death by his parents, Enrique and Ana Lopez; his brother, Mario Lopez and stepson, Angelo (Joanna) Badillo.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia; sons, Arturo (Laura), Thomas (Lisa) and Steven G. Lopez; stepchildren, Christine, Arica, and Jerry Badillo; and many beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and brothers, Henry, Richard, and David Lopez. One of his greatest joys was to be called "Papa".
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. with Memorial Services from 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408.
HE WILL BE TRULY MISSED
