Benice Evans passed away on July 1, 2020 in Laguna Woods California. Born on December 11th, 1926, in Kingsbridge, Wales, UK, she immigrated with her family to Gary, Indiana. She was from a family of 11 children by William John Evans and Edith Primrose Evans and is survived by her two daughters L. Diane Vorhis of Torrance, California and Carol Overdorff-Hamos of Tacoma, Washington, as well as two son-in-laws and two step grandsons. Benice also has two surviving sisters: Hannah Corbin of Wausau, Wisconsin and Philippa Springer of Plainfield, Indiana.
A devoted mother and sister, Benice was full of life and socially involved in her community of Laguna Woods. Known for her independence and humor, Benice was a member of the local chapter of the local women’s Philanthropic Education Organization, a longtime building captain of her condominium association, and member of Lutheran Church of the Cross of Laguna Woods.
Benice will be laid to rest with the Evans family at Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Gary Indiana. A private, family memorial service will be announced.
