Brenda Starr Doby

Brenda was born on June 23rd, 1949, to Lloyd Macklin and Mary L. Macklin (Douglas) in the state of Tennessee.  Brenda married John H. Doby and from that union three children were born, Kenneth, Katrina, and Kevin.  Brenda later remarried Maurice Jamison, from that union Christina was born.  Brenda departed this life on Tuesday January 5, 2021.  She was proceeded in death by her parents Lloyd Macklin and Mary L. Macklin, and brother Anible L. Macklin.  She leaves to follow her legacy four children Kenneth L. Doby of Texas, Katrina K. Bailey (Mark Bailey) of Illinois, Kevin L. Doby of Wisconsin, and Christina R. Jamison of Indiana.  She accepted Christ at a young age. She was a long-standing member of Van Buren M.B. Church.

Brenda attended Roosevelt and Froebel High school and graduated in 1967. After graduation Brenda attended Indiana University Nursing School Program in 1971.  She graduated and went on to Graduate school at DePaul University Illinois, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and worked as a RN in Indiana and Illinois. She later in life joined the Army Reserves. Having joined the Army reserves, she obtained the rank of Major Brenda Doby RN.  She was a very loving mother, a friend too many.  She always wanted people to be the best they could be.  She was an avid believer in education.  She absolutely Loved Jesus Christ and was a faithful woman of God.  She instilled daily the importance of Jesus Christ to all her children and grandchildren. 

Brenda leaves to mourn her four children, 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren along with a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.

Due to the Covid-19 procedures, Ridgelawn Funeral Home is limiting guests to 50 people.  Masks and Social Distancing will be required.
