Brenda (Wilkerson) Tramel

On June 17, 1946, Brenda Wilkerson was born in Moberly, Missouri, to Leonard Wilkerson and Betty Pettigrew.  She later moved to Gary, Indiana where she met the love of her life, Nathan Tramel, whom she married.  To this union were born three beautiful children, Lisa, Erika, and Nathan Tramel, Jr.

Brenda worked in retail for many years at Topps and Meijer Department Stores.  To know her was to love her.  She had a love for people and community.  Such a love she dedicated her life in many ways to better the community; she gave advice, she fed many, and she opened her home for those who needed refuge.  

Brenda was a secretary of Ambridge Mann Community Center, president of her block club, led crime-stoppers in our area, in charge of the voting polls for her precinct, and president of the Brunswick Little League for sixteen years; but most importantly, she had a love for God.  She wore many hats, and she wore them well !  She accomplished everything to the best of her ability, until her health began to fail.  God called her home on February 26, 2022.

Brenda was preceded in death by her loving husband, Nathan Tramel, Sr.; parents, Leonard Wilkerson and Betty Pettigrew; five brothers, and one sister.

She leaves to cherish a lifetime of memories: her children, Lisa Tramel, Erika Tramel, and Nathan Tramel, Jr.; two sisters, Dimple and Valerie Pettigrew; three grandchildren, Aaron Piggee, Elijah and Hannah Robinson; great-granddaughter, Jayia Piggee; goddaughter, Lillian Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 9, 2022 4:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m with Homegoing Services on Thursday, March 10, 2022 from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. form Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana.  Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery.
