Brigida J. (Martinez) Vaiz

 Brigida Vaiz, lovingly known as "Bicky", passed away peacefully at the age of 93, on September 22, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family in the comfort of her home.

Brigida was a woman whose life radiated love- for her Savior Jesus, for her family, and for everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her faith was her foundation, guiding her through a life marked with kindness, warmth, and resilience.

She was known for her gifted hands and generous heart. Whether she was sewing a quilt with care, rolling tortillas from scratch, or whipping up her famously hot salsa, Bicky's love was always present in the details.

Bicky had a wonderful sense of humor, a gentle spirit, and a sparkle in her eye that made people feel seen and valued. She was a treasure to her family and a blessing to her community.

She will be deeply missed. Her legacy of faith, love, and joyful living lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rev. David C. Vaiz, in 2009; and her loving son, Jose L. (Vitalia) Casarez and a host of other relatives and dear friends.

Visitation Monday, September 29, 2025, 3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408. Interment will be private.
