Carlos M. Fuentes, 93, from Puerto Rico, left us peacefully on February 23, 2025. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather.
He worked at Inland Steel for 42 years and retired in 1992. He left Indiana to move back to Puerto Rico in 1993 and lived there for 24 years before deciding to come back to Indiana in 2017 to be with his family.
Carlos Fuentes was born January 11, 1932, he was the second born of six siblings. He moved to Indiana in 1958 to work his first job as a taxi driver until he began working at Inland Steel. In 1959, he meets the love of his life, Narcisa Rivera and in just three months they were married and began creating a beautiful life together. They had five children, Carlos Manuel, Jr. (deceased), Annette, Nereida, Adenis, and Jose Antonio Fuentes; ten wonderful grandchildren, Annette Marie, Wil (Pito), Manuel (Trudy), Jasmin Adenis (Paul), Alexus Tierra, Luis Canito, Angelica Mari, Jazzayia Marie, Carlos Jose, Jose Antonio, Jr., Darlenys, and Mikaela Jailene; nine great-grandchildren, Antonio Manuel, Eliany Mia (William) Amyrah D., Amina H., Zylah A., Amari M., Namani Dy'anice, Amelia A., and Darion L .He was blessed with meeting his great-great grandchild Athena Ann Fuentes.
He was an amazing baseball player who also loved playing dominos and pool with his family and friends. He was loved and respected by so many. Carlos Manuel was a caring, patient, outgoing, and funny person who brought joy to all who knew him. Our Ito will forever be in our hearts, and we will always carry his memories with us. He truly was a blessing and will be missed. Love you always, Papi Carlos (Ito)
