Carmen Ivette Casillas

Carmen Ivette Casillas, age 66, passed away on Saturday November 05, 2022. Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on April 08, 1956, to Jose Ramon Diaz and Carmen Benilda Vega.

She married Ramon Luis Casillas in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, on February 19, 1972..

Carmen Ivette is survived by daughters Dayanara Casillas-Costello, Lisa Luttinen-Caldwell, sons Jose Daniel Casillas, Ramon Luis Casillas Jr., sister Wanda Diaz-Sierra, brother Jose R. Diaz; brother-in-law Junior Sierra, grandchildren Dayanara Ivette, Ramon Yandel, Evalisa Marie, Ashley Brittney, Ariel Marie, Elijah Jacob, Gabriel Ramon, Sarah Barreda-Criswell, Ashlee, Brianna; great grandchildren, Camilla, Melania, Otis, Ava, and Isaiah, as well as many more relatives and dear friends.

She had a special place in her heart for her daughters-in-law, Zugede Casillas, Genesis Casillas and son-in-law Raymond Costello.

Carmen was preceded in death by her husband, Ramon Luis Casillas; parents, Jose Ramon and Carmen Benilda; and sister, Nitza.

She will be fondly remembered as an inspirational singer for the East Chicago Indiana Community, family and dear friends. She was a secretary for the former President Ramon Luis Caillas and the East Chicago Puerto Rican Committee. She was extremely compassionate, loving, humble, highly giving and helpful, immensely enjoyed laughter, singing, dancing and enormously loved and respected God.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 15, 2022, 4:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. with Funeral Services Wednesday, November 16, 2022, 12:00- 1:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn  Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408. Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery.
