Carmen A. Malave

  Carmen A. Malave was born  on June 20, 1928, in Humacao, Puerto Rico and passed away peacefully in Hammond, Indiana on November 12, 2021.

  She was preceded in death by her parents, Valentin Malave and Teresa Guzman; and her brother, Tomas Malave.

  At the age of 19 Carmen married Cecilio Russi in Humacao Puerto Rico. Carmen accepted Christ into her life at the age of 20 in Humacao Puerto Rico.    She served the Lord faithfully and trusting in Him, she followed her husband to Gary, Indiana, in August of 1953, with four children ages five and   under. Carmen continued to serve the Lord and raised her nine children in the Pentecostal Church.

Carmen went to school in the late seventies and became a nurse's aide.  She worked in Gary, Indiana for a few years, but returned to Puerto Rico in the early eighties, to care for her loving mother.  She moved to East Chicago, Indiana in the early nineties.  She continued serving the Lord at Iglesia Cristiana Pentecostes in East Chicago, Indiana, and was an active member serving as an usher, evangelist, and serving wherever she was needed.  Carmen dedicated her life to serving the Lord, her family, and others.

Carmen leaves to cherish a lifetime of memories to her nine children, Julio C. (Sonia-deceased) Russi, Aida L. (Adiel-deceased) Jaime, Maria L. (Ivan) Agosto, Iris D. Russi, Henry (Rosa- deceased)  Russi,  Cecilio (Leticia) Russi, Jr., Teresa (Miguel) Irizarry, Elias (Gina) Russi, and Madeline (Jesus) Correa; thirty-five grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nephews and nieces.

Carmen lived a blessed and full life.  She was loved and cared for by her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation  will be Thursday, November 18, 2021, 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. with Funeral Services 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana.  Interment immediately following services from Ridgelawn Cemetery.

MASKS MUST BE WORN BY ALL ATTENDEES VACCINATED OR UNVACCINATED ! MASK MANDATE WILL BE STRONGLY ENFORCED !
