Carol Coes Obituary

Carol Dean (Black) Coes, was born on February 8, 1946, to Willie Daryll and Lois Lorrane Black in Robertson County Tennessee. At an early age, her parents relocated from Tennessee to Gary, Indiana searching for better opportunities to raise the family.

Carol graduated from Tolleston High School in 1965, then pursued a career in Nursing. In November of 1966 she graduated from Nursing School with her LPN and began working at Wildwood Manor for about a year until she moved her employment to Methodist Hospital in 1968. She continued working until 1976 when she decided to put her career on hold and focus on raising her three boys. She professed her faith in God at an early age, but it was not until the early 80’s that she realized the true Power, Mercy, and Grace of God. She attended the Family Church, Tarrytown for a period before moving her membership to Christ Baptist Church under the leadership of Colvin Blanford.

She became the Family Agriculturalist as she went back to her roots of farming with her Gardening and Flower-bed maintenance. She made chow chow (cha cha), jams and jellies and froze enough fresh vegetables during the summer months to feed the masses. Carol recently celebrated 50 years of marriage and overwhelmingly appreciated the out pouring of Love from many old friends and family members.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents Willie D (1996) and Lois Lorrane Black (2010); brothers, Ronnie (2009), McKenzie (2021) and John Thomas (2011); sisters, Tracey, Wendle (2000), Zola Mae (2003), Willie Sue (2017) and Diane (2003); and godparents, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson.

Her life will forever be celebrated by her husband, William Coes Sr.; sons William Jr. (Nett), Terron (Nesha) and Randy (Kita); grandchildren Terron Jr, Ardel, Cameron, Willie, William, and great granddaughter Aaliyah; siblings James (Diane), Robert, Linnie, Shirley, Sylvania, Wallace, Terry, Precious (Allan), Eric (Geraldine) and sister-in-law Willie Love. Carol amassed many non-biological children and an army of people who unconditionally loved her, and you are all appreciated.
