Conception Mangual, Jr.

It is with great sadness that the family of Conception "Cubzy" Mangual, Jr. announce his passing.

Conception Cubzy" Mangual, Jr., age 67, of East Chicago, passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, February 21, 2025, at his home.

Conception was born and raised in East Chicago, Indiana, and was an honor roll graduate of Washington High School class of 1975. He continued his education at Indiana University graduating with a degree in business administration. 

Conception was well known for his 23 years of bell ringing for the Salvation Army in East Chicago, Indiana. He was known by many employees and patrons of Van Til's grocery store in Hammond, Indiana, where he usually bell rang as "Santa" during the holiday season. He was a sports fanatic at heart loved sports of any kind, different teams and a variety of sports, but most of all, he loved helping others.

Conception is survived by his son, Brandon Walsh; his mother, Carmen (Rivera) Mangual; sister, Yasmin Mangual, sister, Cynthia (Jaime) Montanez and their two children, Nina Samantha (Tyler) Preall and daughter, Penelope Violet Preall and Jaime Mangual (Eleni) Montanez and daughter, Eliza Rhodes Montanez;  sister, Wanda Pasquinelli and sons, Angelo Rafael (Samantha) Pasquinelli and Jeffery Lewis Pasquinelli; brother, Nestor Mangual; sister, Myra Crawford and son, Jax Ridley Crawford; sister, Joy (Tony) Clayton and their four children, Alexia, Noah, Zaida, and Hayden Clayton; also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Conception was preceded in death by his father, Concepcion Mangual; maternal grandparents, Jose and Virginia Rivera; paternal grandparents, Concepcion  and Hermenegilda Mangual (Aponte).

Visitation will be Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. with Mass 12:00 p.m.-1:30 p.m. from Saint Patrick's Parish 3802 Grand Blvd. East Chicago, Indiana 46312. Conception will be laid to rest at Ridgelawn Cemetery 4401 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408.
