Darling Davidson Obituary


Darling T. Tarver was born to Turner Tarver, Sr. and Elnora (Davis) Tarver on December 26, 1941, in Seale (Russell County) Alabama. Wanting a better for herself and her two children, Elnora relocated to Gary, Indiana in 1947, to start a new life and journey with her family.

Darling, along with her brother Turner, Jr., were proud graduates of Froebel High School, Class of 1960.


On September 22, 1962, Darling was united in holy matrimony with Ronald Davidson, Sr. To this union, a set of identical twin daughters, Veronica and Valencia, were born.

Darling joined Trinity Missionary Baptist Church under to leadership of  Rev. W.H. Thomas, Sr. and was baptized in 1979.

Darling attended and graduated from Odessa’s Beauty College and became a licensed cosmetologist for some years. Darling wanted a better life for herself and her daughters, so she decided to attend Indiana University Northwest. She graduated in 1975 with a degree in Nursing.


Darling started her nursing career at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. She moved on to Methodist Hospital Northlake Campus in Gary, Indiana. She worked there for 11 years. Darling joined the Traveling Nurses Association in 1986, which allowed her to travel extensively and experience many areas of nursing. It also allowed her to interact with a diverse group of people in the nursing field.

Darling settled in Oakland, California for 9 years, with her brother, Turner.  She returned to Gary in 1995 and continued to work again at Methodist Hospital Northlake Campus until she retired.  Darling had an impeccable career and dedicated over 35 years of her life, serving and taking care of the ill.

Darling gained her wings and transitioned home to be with the Lord on October 21, 2022, at the VNA Hospice Home Care in NWI.

Darling is preceded in death by her parents, Turner Tarver, Sr. and Elnora (Davis)Tarver; her brother, Turner Tarver, Jr.; and her grandson, Koree Malone.

She leaves to cherish her wonderful and loving memories her twin daughters, Veronica R. Davidson (Atlanta, GA) and Valencia D. Davidson (Little Elm, TX); granddaughter, Ashlynn D. Malone (Little Elm, TX); Nephews, Miles Tarver and Mitchell Tarver (Oakland, CA); Special son, Ronald (Cynthia) Davidson , Jr (Merrillville, IN); Aunt, Mamie Davis Ezekiel; special cousin, Rita (Jerald) Davis Robinson; special friend, Elayne Willis Holland; surrogate daughter, Janet Cheeks Taylor; sisters in love, Iris Davidson Currie, Merle (Alphonso) Davidson Yarbroughand Joan Davidson Harger; brother in love, Heath O. Davidson, and a host of loving cousins and friends.
