On December 20,1967 Dorothy and Charles Sr. were blessed with a beautiful baby boy, Darren.
Darren was very good with his hands and could build or repair almost anything. Darren had a huge love for cars and would work on a car from sun up to sun down. Darren attended school through the Hammond Public School system, where he graduated from Hammond High School in 1986.
Darren worked many jobs over the course of the years. Before he took ill, he was working side by side with Deandre at ZF Lemford in Chicago, Illinois.
Darren was preceded in death by his father, Charles D. Hackett, Sr., and sister, Toni Hackett.
He leaves to cherish the happy memories with mother, Dorothy Hackett of Blythewood, SC; his four sons, Deandre J. Hackett, Sr. of Hammond, IN, Darren Hackett of Houston, TX, Bennett Hackett, Sr. of Indianapolis, IN. and Ladarius Hackett of East Chicago, IN; six sisters, Margaret (Chris) Major of Columbia, SC, Kim Bates of Merrillville, Indiana, Freda King of Baltimore, MD, Liana Hackett of Las Vegas, NV, Michelle Hackett-Williams of Inglewood, CA, and Tanya Peterson of Indianapolis, IN; three brothers, Charles Hackett, Jr. of Las Vegas, NV, Derrick (Myrna) Hackett of Hammond, IN, and Wayne (Cheryl) Hackett of Las Vegas, NV; four grandsons, Malachi Hackett, Deandre Hackett, Jr., Deshawn Hackett, and Bennett Hackett, Jr.; granddaughter, Aliya L. Hackett, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Dad, your wings were ready, but our hearts were not. Love, your sons, Deandre, Darren, Bennett, and Ladarius.
While the loss of a child is excruciating, knowing that he is in the arms of angels brings me peace. Love, Mom
Dear Bro, the only thing in this world that is too great to be estimated, is my love for you. Love, Margaret
