Eloisa Deven

On Sunday, January 29, 2023, Elosia Deven passed away peacefully at the age of 95 years old. Eloisa was born on May 22, 1927, in Brownsville, Texas, the daughter of the late Jose Reyes and Maria Oliveria Reyes.

Eloisa married Fred Deven on February 14, 1946, and was a devoted wife for 62 years prior to his death.

Eloisa had ten children and was a stay at home mom, as it was usual for women to stay home with the children while their husbands worked.

She enjoyed cooking and making her special dishes for special occasions. She cared deeply for her family. 

Eloisa was preceded in death by her husband, Fred H. Deven; parents, Jose Reyes and Maria Oliveria Reyes; daughter, Eloisa (Ticki) Frazee; two sons-in-law, Timothy Pearey and Peter (Pete) Stepanovich; two sisters, her twin, Irene Contant and Maria G. Saldana; and two brothers, Jose Reyes, Jr., and Albert Reyes.

She leaves to cherish her memory nine children; Mary J. (Carroll) Boe, Trinidad (John) Gonzales, Gloria Pearey, Grace (Dave) Sicinski, Fred, Jr. (Yolanda) Deven, Ann (Brent) Ewen, May Stepanovich, Edward Deven, and Patricia Black; twenty six loving grandchildren; thirty three loving great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Rodolfo Reyes and Danny Reyes; sister, Lilly Moreno; and several loving nieces, nephews and other  family members and friends.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank all the caregivers, especially Ma Graciela Esquiuez who took care of Eloisa. Eloisa will be deeply missed by her loving children.

Eloisa's favorite Saint- St. Martin de Porres- Everything even sweeping, scraping vegetables, weeding a garden, and waiting on the sick could be a prayer, if it were offered to God. St. Martin de Porres.

Visitation Tuesday, February 7, 2023, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. with Funeral Services 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana.  Interment Memory Lane Memorial Park Crown Point, Indiana.
