Emilio D. Martinez

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Emilio D. Martinez, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Emilio was born on August 8, 1936, in Arampere, Mexico and passed away on February 14, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Emilio was the heart of his family, always offering love, guidance, and unwavering support. He was a man of integrity and compassion; known for his gentle spirit and the joy he brought to those around him. His passion for gardening was evident in the care he gave to both plants and his loved ones, nurturing them with the same dedication and love. He was a retiree of Inland Steel in 1984.

Emilo is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Irma G. Martinez of Portage, Indiana; his only son, Roy (Lisa) Martinez of Portage, Indiana; three granddaughters, Stephanie Martinez of Portage, Indiana, Melissa Martinez of Hobart, Indiana, and Tanya (Tito) Maldanado of Merrillville, Indiana ; seven great-grandchildren, Cecilia, Oscar, Alicia, Makenzee, Andrew, Maliah, and Aubrey; two siblings, Ofelia (Manuel) Garcia of San Benito, Texas, and Santiago (Bertha) of Sterling, Illinois.

Emilio will be dearly missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His greatest joy was spending time with family and tending to his garden. We are forever grateful for the time we shared and the love he gave. His legacy of kindness, patience, and devotion will continue to inspire and guide us.
