Enrique Morquecho, Jr., affectionately known as Henry, 66, a loving and obedient son, brother, and friend, was called home to be with the Lord at 3:30 a.m., Saturday, October 9, 2021. Enrique passed away peacefully at Wittenberg Village Nursing Home, knowing that he was loved.
Enrique was born to Enrique Morquecho, Sr. and wife, Juanita (Paiz) on May 24, 1955, in East Chicago, Indiana. After graduating from Bishop Noll Institute, Hammond, Indiana , in 1974, Enrique joined the United States Air Force, completing bootcamp at Lackland Air Force Base, then joining the elite Pararescue Special Forces for advanced training in Kirtland AFB, New Mexico. Enrique enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, old movies, a hot cup of coffee, a good dinner, and classic cars.
One word that describes Enrique is LOVE; there was not a person that did not like him. There was not anything he would not do for his family or friends. The world is a little less brighter and much colder without him, and he will be truly missed by all who loved him.
He is survived by his loving mother; Juanita Morquecho, siblings, Virginia Dora (Morquecho) Bertelsen and husband, Bruce of Olathe, KS., Sylvia (Morquecho) Arevalo, and husband, Julio of East Chicago, IN., Gustavo Jesus Morquecho of Highland, IN., and Gerardo Alonso Morquecho, and wife, Anna of Natalia, TX.; nephews; Brian Keith Bertelsen , and wife, Kristen and baby Bertelsen due November 16, 2021, of Denver, CO., Brett Jason Bertelsen, and wife, Lia; children, Tyler and Arabella, of Olathe, KS., Julian Enrique Arevalo of East Chicago, IN.; nieces, Tea Marie Morquecho of Las Vega, NV., Arial Berenice Morquecho, Rubi Gabriella Morquecho, and Sara Edith Morquecho of Natalia, TX.; several great-nieces and nephews; cousins, Jesse Paiz and wife, Connie, Clayton Davison, and wife, Mary Ann, and Esperanza Diaz.
Visitation will be Friday, October 15, 2021, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. with Funeral Mass 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana with Rev. Cory Wielert, officiating. Burial with Military Honors immediately following at Ridgelawn Cemetery.
