Ernest Hernandez, age 69, of East Chicago, Indiana, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2025, at home with his loving sister, Yoli by his side.
Tito was born on November 19, 1955. He was preceded in death by his parents; Juan and Nena Hernandez; brothers, Oscar, Raul, Eloy, and Rich; sister, DeeDee and grandmother, Juanita Gonzalez.
He is survived by his brother, John (Pam) Hernandez; sisters, Tina Villarreal, Rosie (Mark) Montemayor, Yoli Vera, and Lisa (Roy) Martinez; numerous loving nieces and nephews and shared many cherished memories with his godson, Andrew; great-niece, Maliah, and beloved close nieces, Stephanie, Melissa, Siera, Siena, and beloved close nephew, Juan (JP) Hernandez.
While Tito was born with cerebral palsy, he never once complained about the things he couldn't do. He enjoyed playing poker with family, going camping and having a cocktail or two, in which he referred to as "HAPPY HOUR". One of his favorite childhood memories was running his lemonade and snow cone stand every summer. But most of all, he loved being surrounded by family and friends, whether it was at the bowling alley, cookouts, or just at home. He was known for always having a smile on his face.
The last few years he built a strong and loving bond with his sister and caregiver, Yoli. They enjoyed each other's company, shared many laughs and spent hours watching their favorite shows like, Caso Cerrado. While building their bond, he also created an attachment to Sophie. She was there to wake him up every morning with barks of excitement and was always happy to clean up after him after every meal. The three of them became closer than ever and the best of friends. But Tito's favorite part of every night was when his best friend, Yoli would sing to him "Goodnight, Sweetheart, Goodnight".
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered in our hearts
