Evelyn Lake Obituary

Evelyn Scotland-Shell-Lake, was born on July 19, 1931, in Iva, South Carolina, to James Edward Scotland and Fannie Pearl Dawson-Scotland.  She was the 9th child of 13.  She transitioned to eternity in Merrillville, Indiana on December 22, 2021.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her husbands; Robert Shell and Willie Lake; father and mother; James (Pearl) Scotland; daughter, Eunice Elaine Castellanos; 6 brothers; 3 sisters; 2 grandsons; Donte Warren and Thomas Paulding; and great granddaughter;  Rihanna Campbell.

Evelyn had a beautiful full life.  She loved the Lord and always wanted to please Him.  She was a true songbird.  She played the piano and sang for New Bethesda Baptist Church for over 30 years.  She was also in many choirs.  Evelyn was a Christian her entire life, but in 1972, she received the Holy Spirit and began fulfilling her purpose for her life.  She joined Embassies Of Christ Kingdom Ministries on October 21, 2001.

She was a devoted wife and mother.  She always thought of God and her family first.  Evelyn was a hard worker.  She was a forklift driver at National Can, Indiana Tin Mill, and Sunbeam Lighting Company, just to name a few.  But that was not enough, she became a daycare owner of Grandma's House and a foster mother to many.  She loved people, especially children.  She was a mother and grandmother to so many, they cannot be counted.  So the seeds she sowed into so many lives are still reaping a harvest ! 90 wonderful years she was here on earth and will always have an impact on any and everyone who allowed her to be in their life.

Evelyn leaves to mourn: son, Michael (Denise) Shell; daughter, Karen Jenkins; 3 stepdaughters, Theresa (Troy) Watson, Renita Shell, and Deborah (Keith) Bell;  3 sisters, Jurovene Scott, Shirley Heard, and Genevieve Potts; 9 grandsons; 2 granddaughters, 10 great-grandsons, 8 great-granddaughters, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

As Evelyn transitioned into eternity, she had a big smile on her face.  I believe she heard from the Lord saying "Well done thy good and faithful servant, Well Done".  WE LOVE YOU MOM and you will never be forgotten !
