Felipe "Phil" Soto, age 62, of Gary, Indiana, was called home to be with the Lord on June 22, 2026. A man of deep faith, Phil lived his life as a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, finding joy in worship, generosity, and the simple blessings of family and everyday moments.
Born on August 8, 1963, in Manhattan, New York, then on to Gary, Indiana. Phil was a warm hearted, faithful soul who loved the Lord will all his heart. Every Sunday he was a habitual offering giver, cheerfully giving back to God from the blessings he had received. His strong Christian faith guided him through life and was evident in the way he loved and served others.
Phil is survived by his loving son, Robrert Soto; his cherished grandchildren, Jaydin, Jaylin, and Jaylani Soto, who brought him endless joy; brother, Tony Soto; and sister, Lisa Soto. He was preceded in death by his parents; Sally and Juan Soto.
A passionate sports fan, Phil was an avid supporter of the New York Yankees and the Chicago Cubs, and he greatly admired Michael Jordan. He also possessed a tremendous appetite for life literally and figuratively, enjoying nothing more than sharing a good Chinese meal with family and friends. His laughter, kind spirit, and hearty love for good food will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
Private Services were held on July 3, 2026, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Gary, Indiana. Though we grieve his sudden departure, we take comfort in knowing Phil is now in the presence of his Heavenly Father, free from pain and filled with eternal joy. "Well done, good and faithful servant" (Matthew 25:21).
May the Lord comfort the entire family and all who loved Phil, and may his legacy of faith, generosity, and love continue to shine through his children and grandchildren. Rest in peace, dear Phil, your race is finished and your reward is great.
