Fred Walton Obituary

Fred A. Walton, 83 of Gary, Indiana transitioned from this life into eternal life on Monday, October 31, 2022 in Dyer, Indiana. The third of five children born to DeWitt and Ella Walton February 13, 1939 in Sardis, Mississippi. After high school, he served in the US Army and returned home to Gary, Indiana. He was employed by US Steel as an instrument repairman for 30 years and a member of United Steelworkers Local 1014. He married his lovely wife Gloria Walton in 1960 and they had their son, Frederick. Fred had a passion for watching basketball and football, primarily the Lakers and Bears. He was an avid pool player and known as one of the best by his friends and family. He was a loving father, grandparent to three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. His family meant everything to him. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents DeWitt and Ella Walton and sisters Delores Kelly and Ella Walton. Fred leaves to cherish a lifetime of memories: his beloved and devoted ex-wife, Gloria Walton; son Frederick (Vikki) Walton; grandchildren, Joshua (Raven), Rachel (Jeremy), Morgan; great-grandchildren, Ashlynn, Aubrie, and Kassidy; sisters, Mary Stephens and Patricia Williams; special nieces, Donna Theus and Maya Theus, and a host of many other relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life will be Monday, November 7, 2022. Visitation from 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road, Gary, IN 46408 Tel:(219) 980-5555.
