George Jeffery Norton was born to George Norton, Jr. and Alberta Norton on September 24, 1951, in Cleveland, Ohio. Shortly thereafter they relocated to Gary, Indiana. He was the third child of six children. he expressed a hope in Christ at an early age. George received his formal education at Tolleston High School, where he was a member of the last graduating class (1969). He attended Indiana University where he majored in Criminal Justice.
George was united in holy matrimony to Theresa McClain and their union was blessed with two sons, George Anthony and Jeffery Randall Norton.
He was given a second chance at love when he met Pamela Lane. They were united in holy matrimony in 2007. They became a blended family with Pam's three daughters. God blessed their union with a son, Brett Kevin Norton.
George was an avid fisherman. He received his love of fishing from his father. You could find Pam, Brett, Tony, and George all over Northwest Indiana fishing anytime they had a moment to spare, even if the weather did not cooperate. You could find him manning the grill of frying fish amongst other things at Unity AME Zion Church, Reverend Dr. David I. Neville, presiding, where he was member since 2008, or being his son Brett's biggest cheerleader at his track and field meets at Indiana State University.
George was employed with ISM Security as Human Resource Director until he retired.
On April 23, 2021, George received his wings and went to be with the Lord. he is preceded in death by his parents, George and Alberta Norton; children, George Anthony and Jeffery Randall Norton; siblings, Carl Mitchell and Cynthia Ann Vanish.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Pamela Norton; son, Brett Kevin Norton; daughters, Destiny (Lee) Wingfield, Danielle Bronson and Dominque Bronson; sister, Eva (Henry) Taylor; brothers, Phillip Norton and Orville (Kimberly) Norton; fifteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
