Mr. Gerardo Xavier Ortiz, Sr., was born to Rudolph and Julia Ortiz, on March 24, 1960, in East Chicago, Indiana. Jerry married the love of his life, Martha Perez 34 years ago and to the union were blessed with three beautiful children.
He leaves to cherish his memory: loving and devoted wife, Martha Ortiz; three loving children, Dr. Gerardo X., Jr., David and Melanie Ortiz; four loving brothers, Arty (Eva), Rudolph "Buster" (LuAnn), Eddie (Rhonda), and Ray Ortiz; two loving sisters-in-law, Rose Mary Antonacopulos and Sonia Lopez (Brian Barrios); brother-in-law, Richard (Mary) Perez; 12 loving nieces and nephews, Niko, Crystal, Vincent, Richard Jr. (Patty), Jessica (Jaime), Marcella, Julia, Angie, Holly, Eddie, Jr., Rudy, and Justin. Jerry also leaves his memory to his Crown Point Dogs Teammates. He was an avid baseball player and coach to his team. Jerry was an electrician with his local union.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Julia Ortiz; brother, Raulie Ortiz; sister, "Cookie" Santos, father and mother-in-law, Roberto and Ofelia Perez; and brother-in-law, Roberto Perez, Jr. and a host of many dear family members and friends.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, only 50 people will be allowed to attend services. Masks and social distancing are required . Visitation will be Friday, January 22, 2021 from 10:00 am- 1200 noon, with Funeral Services from 12noon- 1:00 pm. God bless the Ortiz families.
