Guadalupe Guajardo

Guadalupe Guajardo of East Chicago, Indiana (formerly of Laredo, Texas) passed away Thursday, June 27, 2024, at the age of 88.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dolores Guajardo; six children; Sandra (Frank) Chapa, Javier Guajardo, Patricia Quinones, Emiliano Guajardo, Rene Guajardo, and Sylvia (Rodolfo) Marquez; he also has ten grandchildren; Celine Marie (Dustin) Sexton, Hector Antonio Quinones, Cristian Chapa, Carlos Quinones, Jr., Antonio Chapa, Alexa Jacquelyn Guajardo, Andres Chapa, Eric Guajardo, Alicia Marquez, and Sara Marquez; two great-grandchildren, Lydia Marie and Greyson Ray Sexton.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Gavina Guajardo, and brothers, Alejandro and Martin, Guajardo, Jr.

Guadalupe "Tata" Guajardo was blessed and fortunate to have lived 88 long and beautiful years. He was kind, easy going, wise, empathetic, understanding, courageous, and a good story and joke teller. He was a devoted husband, dedicated father, loyal son, and good friend to all. We can still hear him telling us that "winners never quit and quitters never win" when he would wake us up for school, or the stories he would tell us of La Larna on long and dark patches of highway when traveling to visit family. 

Our hearts and minds are filled with so many beautiful memories because of him, and we will be eternally grateful. Although he is physically gone, the essence of who he is will always remain with us.

Visitation will be Friday, July 5, 2024, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. with Mass of Christian Burial 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408. Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery 4401 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408.
