Gustavo "Gus" Guerrero, Jr., age 84, of Crown Point (formerly of East Chicago) passed away peacefully January 6, 2021. He was born September 26, 1936, in San Antonio, Texas to Gustavo and Paula Guerrero. Gus came to East Chicago when the Steel industry was booming ! He hired on with Inland Steel in 1955 and retired as a Salaried Supervisor in charge of production at the 76" hot strip. He was employed for 39 years. Gustavo was a lifelong member of St. Patrick's Parrish in East Chicago. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emilia (Berrones), parents, Gustavo and Paula, sister, Mary Helen Frias, and brother, Richard Guerrero. Gustavo loved to listen to music and dance. He enjoyed traveling and socializing. He especially enjoyed the frequent family gatherings. His love and pride for his grandchildren was enormous. He leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Guadalupe (James) Bac, sons, Gustavo (Jackie) Guerrero, and David Guy (Candice) Guerrero; two sisters, Angie Vela and Pauline Guerrero; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, his friend and compadre, Frank Zamora and family who were near and dear to him. Gus' smile, laughter and sense of humor along with the love he had for his family will be sorely missed. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, only 50 people will be allowed to attend services. Masks are required upon entry. May God bless the Guerrero families.
