Hector Alvarado, age 67, of Crown Point, Indiana, originally from East Chicago, Indiana, and also resided in Glen Park, Gary, Indiana, transitioned to be with our Heavenly Father on November 28, 2021. Hector was born January 22, 1954, to his late parents, Antonia and Carlos Alvarado, Sr., in Laredo, Texas.
Hector leaves behind his loving wife of 27 years, Mary E. Alvarado, (3) children, Debbie Alvarado, Hector C. Alvarado, and Alex (Linda) Alvarado, (2) step-children, Rudy Gonzalez, and Juliana Ishii; 21 grandchildren, and (3) great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. He also survived by his siblings; Carlos (Eloise) Alvarado, Manuel (Rachel) Alvarado, Antonia (Terry) Wilkins.
Preceded in death by, Ernestina (Guillermo) Flores, Juan Alvarado, and Arthur (Mary) Alvarado.
Hector was a steelworker for most of his life, before retiring from Arcelor Mittal in East Chicago, Indiana, in August 2021. He was a graduate of Washington High School in East Chicago, Indiana. He furthered his education and was also a graduate of Ivy Tech and Purdue University.
Some of his favorite hobbies were hunting, recreational shooting, as well as being a handyman who loved to fix and repair things and was multi-faceted in his skills, many self-taught. Hector was also a great husband, father, and grandfather who loved spending time with his family. He was also very passionate about his relationship with the Lord.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 9, 2021, 1:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana. Burial Friday, December 10, 2021 from Ridgelawn Cemetery Gary, Indiana. Family is requesting those who will attend burial to line up for processional in the parking lot at 1:15 p.m.
