Helen Crafton Vahary

Helen Crafton Vahary of Schererville, Indiana, age 90, born January 6, 1932, passed away on March 21, 2022, in Crown Point, Indiana.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Thomas, on February 17, 2022.

She is survived by her children, Lori (George) Jamrok and Bill (Diana) Butterfield, and her step-children, Carol, Tom and Dan; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Also preceded in death by her two sons, Robert Butterfield, Jr., baby boy Butterfield; and her parents, Elzy and Lorraine Crafton.

Helen retired from Lake Ridge Schools system as the Superintendent's secretary for over thirty years.  She was a 50 year member of the Griffith Chapter #583 of the Eastern Star.  She was also a member of her beloved Antiques Club.  She enjoyed going out to lunch, and especially loved going to Chicago for the day.  

There are no services planned.  There will be a Memorial Luncheon in the Spring in her and Tom's honor.
