James Clifton Boyd, Jr.

James Boyd, Jr. affectionately known as "Jim Dandy" was born April 12, 1957 in Gary, Indiana to James and Margaree Boyd.

He attended West Side High School. He spent several years working as a dispatcher for the Chicago Tribune and in his later years for UPS and Amazon, prior to retiring.

James had a strong love of music, modeling, and dance. He always kept instruments nearby. He encouraged his girls to sing and dance as much as possible. He also had an insatiable desire to learn. James spent much of his time, even to the very end, attending college classes and furthering his education.

On Thursday, March 23, 2023, he departed this life. James was preceded in death by both parents; James C. Boyd, Sr., and Margaree Bray; and son James C. Boyd, III.

James leaves to cherish his memory: four loving daughters, Aisha (Jermaine) Jackson of Albuquerque, New Mexico, LaTasha (Johnnie) Johnson of Fort Wayne, Indiana, India (Charles) Woodson of Hobart, Indiana, and Takisha (James) Williams of Merrillville, Indiana; eleven grandchildren, Sierra (Derrick), Antonio, Dontrell, Kairal, Sanaia, Simeon, Kamden, Solomon, Jayki, Amos, and Sophia; five great-grandchildren, Ni'elah, Legacy, Keontrell, Mei'Lani, and Gabriel; two sisters, Annette Thompson of Houston, Texas and Debra Lynn Turner (Byron) of Merrillville, Indiana; brother, Kevin Barnes (Latrice) of Indianapolis, Indiana; loving stepmother, Georgia Boyd of Houston, Texas; four special sisters, Daphyne of Cordova, Tennessee, Yolanda, Deneece, and Bernetta , all of Atlanta, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
