Jean Serna Obituary

Jean Carol Serna was born April 2, 1950, in Webb, Texas, to Adolfo Serna and Terry (Vasquez) Serna.  She passed away with the love of her life beside her, on February 5, 2025, at Munster Community Hospital in Munster, Indiana.

Jean is preceded in death by her mother, Terry ; father, Adolfo Sr.; brother, Stanley Gil Serna and brother, Adolfo (Al) Serna, Jr.

She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, David Lopez; daughter, Samantha (Dave) Carlin; brothers, Robert D. Moran Vasquez and Edward Serna; grandchildren, Ana Grace, Tessa, Max, and Lilah; honorary son, Rick (Dawn) Mundo, as well copious amounts of nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.

Family has always been the most important thing to Jean during her life, spending her free time supporting her nieces and nephews in all endeavors as if they were her own. Jean has always been an adoring caretaker, and ensured everyone she cherished knew what they meant to her by the acts of service she provided. Jean worked for Sargent & Lundy as an executive secretary in Chicago for 20 + years. After early retirement, Jean helped care for her brother, Stanley until his passing in 2009, and then their aging mother and father until their passing.

David Lopez welcomes family and friends to join him in paying respect and saying goodbye to this incredible woman who has been a part of so many of our most cherished memories.
