Jesse X. Flores, age 78, of East Chicago, Indiana passed away on August 18, 2021. He was born to Juan and Victorica Flores. An electrician by trade, Jesse became a member of the United Steel Workers Union and assistant union griever, he retired from Inland- Mittal Steel after 46 years of service. Jesse served in the United States Army Reserves 12th Special Forces Unit and retired with the rank of Sergeant First Class after 31 years of dedicated service.
Jesse is survived by his children, sons, Jesse Jr. (Kristin Servey), James (Tonya), daughter, Catherine Haluska (Kenneth); grandchildren, Kayla and Chris Black, Karly and Nick Matthias, Victorica and Zach Bloede, Kloessa Servey (Kyler Anderson), Kenneth, Jacob and Abigail Haluska; great-grandchildren, Kingston and Nirvana Black, and baby Anderson; sister, Cipactli Gonzalez (Daniel), nephew, Jason (Doreen) and niece, Lara Bates (Ryan).
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed boating, camping, motorsports, and cycling. He was a former member of the Calumet Crank Club and proud current member of the NRA. During his younger years he participated in boxing and coaching others in the sport at the Whiting Boxing Club. Jesse also enjoyed reading; he was fascinated with computers. Later in life he obtained an Associate's degree from South Suburban College.
Most of all Jesse enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and always had a smile for those he loved. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 25, 2021 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. with Military Honors at 12:00 p.m. Funeral Mass 12:00 p.m. -1:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana. Father Theodore Mens, Officiant. Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery Gary, Indiana.
