Jessie Lee Simmons, age 63, of Gary, Indiana, passed away on July 26, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 16, 1960, in New Albany, Indiana.
Jessie was a beautiful man, wonderful husband, and a great father. He was a hardworking man, employed as a train wrecker for over 30 years.
Preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Barnett; father, Ed Barnett; two sisters, Constance Simmons and Tea Simmons; and uncle, Cliff.
Jessie leaves to cherish his memory: beloved wife, Sylvia Simmons; three children, Lanie, Aymi and Jessie Simmons; six stepchildren, Christopher Ard, Robert Childress, David Childress, Zach Escobedo, Jarrod Imer, and Kyle Imer; brother, Doug Simmons; sister, Selina Adamo; eleven grandchildren, with his newest being a beautiful baby girl, Jesslyn Simmons; sister-in-law, Stevie Simmons; friends of over 50 years, Pete Cubit, Mike and Carol Howard, and Rodney Heston; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation Friday, August 4, 2023, 2:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408. Interment will be private.
