Mr. Joe Coleman, age 87, of Highland, Indiana, passed away April 12, 2022, with his family by his side.
Joe was born May 17, 1934, in Gholson, Mississippi, to Thomas J. Coleman, and Susie Bell Coleman. He was a graduate of Shuqualak High School in Gholson. After graduation he moved to Cleveland, Ohio, to join his family members and attend and graduate from Lincoln Electric Welding School, and was later employed by American Monorail.
He met his wife, Jacqueline in Cleveland, Ohio, and raised their three children there. They moved to Whiting, Indiana, where he joined the 597 pipefitters. In 1966 they moved to Highland, Indiana.
In 1973 Joe founded and established C&S Motors in Hammond, Indiana, which is still owned and operated by his great-grandson, Angelo. This was Joe's true love and passion, loving people.
He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Franklin Coleman, Jr.; daughter, Alice Renee Coleman; parents, Tom J. Coleman and Susie Bell Coleman; 2 sisters, Agnes Coleman and Nita Turner; and brother, Tom Coleman.
Joe is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Jacqueline Coleman; daughter, Judy Ann Martino; 2 granddaughters, Chantell Considine and Angelique Fortuna; 4 great-grandchildren, Angelo Payan, Collin Considine, Deseree Considine, and Aiden Considine; 2 sisters, Jewell Coleman, and Nancy Roberts, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation Wednesday, April 20, 2022 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. with Visitation Thursday, April 21, 2022 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. with Funeral Service 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana. Burial Memory Lane Crown Pont, Indiana.
