John Gore , Jr.

John Gore, Jr., age 95, of Gary, IN., passed away on April 13, 2025. He was born on January 16, 1930. The only child of John and Ophelia Gore. His parents and first wife, Dolores Appleton Gore (the mother of his children) preceded him in death.

John graduated from Roosevelt High School class of 1948. he received an Associates of Arts in law Enforcement and a BS degree in education from St. Joseph College.

John served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955.

He was an avid golfer and was a member of several golf organizations. 

John retired from the Gary Police Department in 1988 with the rank of Captain. He then joined Methodist Hospitals as Director of Security and Transportation, he retired in 1995.

He leaves loving, precious memories for his devoted wife, Laura Tabron Gore; his son, John David (Rose) Gore; and daughter, Donna Nicole Gore; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; many cousins and dear friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 22, 2025, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408. Interment with Military Honors will be held from Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery 20953 West Hoff Road Elwood, Illinois 60421.
