Johnny Diaz Sr.

Johnny Diaz, Sr., age 69, a lifelong resident of Gary, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at Southshore Health and Rehabilitation Home.  A 1972 graduate of Emerson High School where he displayed his love for sports, lettering in baseball.  A sports enthusiast who proudly displayed his favorite team, The Chicago White Sox.

Johnny went on to honorably serve his country in the United States Marine Corp, something he was very proud of.  A retiree of Inland Steel with 30 years of dedicated service.

Preceded in death by his parents, Zacarias and Antonia Diaz; brother, George Luis; sisters, Juanita Joyce and Elizabeth Diaz.

Johnny leaves to cherish his memory wife, Carmen; son, Johnny Jr. (JJ); daughter, Ivette Lafitte; five grandchildren; brothers, Vincent. Felix, and Victor; sister, Lucy (Geno) Castro; and a host of nephews; nieces; and many friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 20, 2021 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. with Funeral Mass 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana.  Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery.

MASKS  MUST BE WORN BY ATTENDEES VACCINATED OR UNVACCNATED !  MASK MANDATE WILL BE STRONGLY ENFORCED   !!
