Rev. Dr. Kirby Justin Jeffries was the third child born to Fred Sr. and Sarah Allen Jeffries on March 27, 1936. He passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2020. Kirby accepted Christ at an early age and attended Pilgrim Baptist Church. He graduated from Gary Roosevelt High School, later receiving his degree from Grambling State University, a Historical Black University in Grambling, Louisiana. At Grambling, he learned how to sing Opera with a distinctive voice. Kirby was well-known for his psychic abilities and was on WWCA radio and television in the 1970's. He was also on Christian Radio in the 1980's. Kirby served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany, returning to the United States in 1961. He was a mentor to his family and friends. Kirby showed his niece and nephews a different side of the world. He took them to Museum Ice Capades, concerts and fine restaurants for dinner. He would tell them to order anything but a HAMBURGER, because you could get a burger ANYWHERE ! Kirby was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Sr. and Sarah Jeffries; sisters, Seola Moore,, Annette Joan, and Loretta Jeffries ; brothers, Fred, Richard and John Jeffries. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Heidi Jeffries of California and Marilyn Jeffries of Merrillville, IN, devoted, special nephew, Joe Lewis; spiritual brother, Pedrino and devoted friend, Jose Arce all of Chicago, IL. Rev. Dr. Jeffries resided in the Chicagoland area for over 20 years. Memorial Service will be held at The Chateau Banquet Hall 530 West 61st Ave. Merrillville, In 46410 on Saturday, August 29, 2020, at 11:00 am.
