Lorenza Gutierrez

Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Lorenza Gutierrez, passed away February 15, 2025, at the age of 87, in Middletown, Ohio, with her daughter Pilar by her side. She left this world in love.

She was born January 26, 1938, in Cortijos Nuevos, Spain to Lorenzo and Angela Fernandez. 

Lorenza was a devoted wife to her loving husband, Philip Gutierrez. Together they raised seven children in East Chicago, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Gutierrez, Sr.; son, Philip Gutierrez; and daughter, Angela Gutierrez.

She is survived by her sons, Jose  Gutierrez, and Lorenzo Gutierrez; daughters, Maria Gutierrez, Pilar Gutierrez, and Monica Gutierrez, as well  as numerous grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Her passions included gardening, singing in the church choir, flamenco music, spending time with family, and above all, cooking. It brought her great happiness to cook for family and friends because to her, food was love. Her home was in America, but her heart forever remained in Spain. Her passing brings great sadness to those who loved her. We will forever cherish the memories of our beloved matriarch. MAY SHE REST IN PEACE.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 25, 2025, 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. with Funeral Services 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408. Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery 4401 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408.
