Luis G Miranda

Mr. Luis G. Miranda, age 81, of Hobart, Indiana, passed away on May 1, 2021, surrounded by his loving and devoted family.  Born on September 8, 1939, in San Jeronimo, Mexico, to Celedonio and Bartola Miranda. Luis moved to Brownsville, Texas and met and married  Anastacia (Anna) Martinez Miranda, and moved to East Chicago, Indiana to start a family. He was a retiree of Inland Steel (car repair) as a welder with 43 years of dedicated service.  He was a self-taught musician, playing the guitar, accordion, and organ for over 35 years.  Luis formed his Tejano band "Los Rebeldes de Luis Miranda", and played with his son, Joe Miranda in his band "La Rebeldia".  He was die hard  Chicago Cubs, Dallas Cowboys, and Notre Dame fan.  He was a very intelligent man quoting "Confucius" often.  Luis was a devout Catholic.  He loved traveling with his family visiting the United States, Mexico, and Canada.  He leaves to cherish a lifetime of memories to his daughters, Martha Miranda Camarillo, Irma Miranda (Juan) Anaya, Esther (Daniel) Machuca, Laura (Curt) Campos; brother, John (Anne) Miranda; sisters, Elvira Casillas, and Ellie (Jim) Cooper; grandchildren, Nichole (Lolo) Pena, Javier (Melissa) Miranda, Selena (Jose) Bonilla, Domingo Camarillo, Jesus (Grissel) Camarillo, Juan (Cindy) Anaya, Julian (Nicole) Anaya, Jose (Richard) Anaya, Esperanza (Matt) Rosenthal, Daniel (Teresa) Machuca, Deric (Raquel) Machuca, Joey Machuca, Camille (Rick Agosto) Campos, Domenica (Ricardo) Guzman, Andrea Campos, and Stacey Campos; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces ,nephews, cousins, and friends.  Preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Anastacia (Anna) Miranda; son, Joe Miranda, brothers, Rodolfo, Manuel and Armando Miranda, granddaughter, Miranda Campos, and great grandson, Charles Ruiz. Visitation will be Thursday, May 6, 2021 from 4:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. with Funeral Service Friday, May 7, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. Both services held from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana.  Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery.
