On Thursday, February, 18, 2021, Luis "Pipo" Perez, loving husband of Josephine Perez and father of five children, passed away at the age of 81.
Pipo, as he was affectionately known by relatives and friends, was born on June 9, 1939, in Lares, Puerto Rico to Luis and Quinita (Gonzalez) Perez. Raised in Puerto Rico, Pipo left for the United States in 1959. After meeting his beautiful future wife, Josephine Lugo. They married on March 17, 1962 and from this union were born four daughters and one son.
Luis was employed at Inland steel as a Craneman, retiring after 29 years of dedicated service. Soon after his retirement he became a security guard for Pabey Security Agency. Luis had a passion for working on cars as he was also a certified mechanic. He was a huge fan of wrestling, and loved lifting weights, exercising and held a BLACK BELT in Karate. Luis very much enjoyed his "Jibaro" music which reigns from the mountain regions of Puerto Rico.
Luis is preceded in death by his father, Luis, and his mother, Quinita, daughter, Sonia Yvette Perez, brother, Jose L. Perez. In addition to his loving and devoted wife, Josephine Perez, he leaves four children to cherish his memories; Haydee Perez, Luis "Cano" Perez, Jr., Ana L. "Anita" Perez and Vivian "Bibi" Perez; eleven grandchildren, Ronald E. Walker, Jr., Haydee M. Walker, Anthony L. Walker, Luis C. Perez, Carlos J. Perez, Angel L. Medellin, Lothario D. Lindsay, Jr., Sonia E. Lindsay, William R. Marshall, Jr., Monique L. Marshall, and Luis A. Perez; six great-grandchildren, Anthony Walker, II, Aaliana Walker, Alijah Walker, Kashmere D. Moore, Jr., Lamar D. Williams, Jr., and La'Renzo D. Williams, Jr., ; eight brothers and one sister, Marciano (Luz) Perez, Manuel (Maria De Los Angeles) Perez, Ana L. (Gabriel) Perez, Miguel Perez, Mariano (Elizabeth) Perez, David (Luz) Perez, Angel (Margie) Perez, Luis (Priscilla) Perez and Orlando (Olga) Perez; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, February 26, 2021 10:00 a.m.- 12:00 noon with Funeral Services 12:00 noon- 1:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road, Gary, IN. 46408. Due to Covid-19 restrictions and guidelines only 50 people will be in attendance. Facial coverings and social distancing is REQUIRED. Luis will be forever missed and loved by many. May he rest in eternal peace. We love you Daddy !
