The Life of Lula Mae Exford
Lula Mae Exford, age 56, was born on August 9, 1963, in Gary, Indiana to Joe and Armazie Feagin, and was the eleventh child of thirteen children.
She was a graduate of West Side High School, Class of 1981. She worked at various Nursing Homes, Sodexo and the Gary Community School Corporation where she held positions as Dietary Manager, and Serv Safe Food Protection Manager, in the community. She also received a certificate and later retired from Sodexo after 10 years of service.
Lula met and fell in love with Tony Exford, Sr. and later married him on February 22, 1986. To this union three beautiful children were born, Tony Jr., Deanna, and Keondra. Her children were raised as she was by her parents who provided her with a strong Pentecostal doctrine.
Lula's spiritual foundation started at a young age at Zion Temple Apostolic church where she was baptized in Jesus’ name in 1974 and later received the Holy Ghost under the late Bishop O.C. Garmon. She later moved her membership in June of 1982 to Logan Park Assembly of Christ under Bishop George Stearnes and presently under Elder Jeffery Allen.
She loved her church family and served 41 years serving the Lord. Lula administered her love and was faithful to the Nurse’s Guild, Baptismal Committee, and the Benevolent Committee. She was also a member of Logan Park Sunday School, Class 14.
Lula was affectionately known as a loving person who loved the Lord and enjoyed being with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents Joe and Armazie Feagin; grandparents, Lonnie and Myra Feagin, & Wilbert & Lelia Moorer, Sr., two brothers, Roy Feagin and Edward Ladell Feagin.
