Lynda V. Higginbotham

Lynda V. Higginbotham, age 77, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away on February 9, 2023.

After graduating from Hampton Institute (University) in Hampton, Virginia with a B.S. in accounting, she married and moved to Gary, Indiana in January 1967. She was employed as a customer service representative with Illinois Bell Telephone Company, and as a teacher in the Lake Ridge School System before beginning a banking career with Gary National Bank. She retired from Chase Bank with 301/2 years of service.

Lynda was an avid bridge player and a loyal member of Club Bridgettes. Since a child well into adulthood, Lynda was a member of Jack and Jill of America Gary Chapter, a group that creates a space for children to stimulate their growth and development through lobbying, educational programming, and the organization of community and charitable events.

Lynda was preceded in death by her husband, Chester L. Higginbotham, Jr.; sister, Lydia V. Lowry, and parents, George and Jessie Vickman.

She leaves to cherish a lifetime of memories; her children, Anthony LaMont Higginbotham of South Bend, Indiana; and Alia Marie (RaShaun) Donald of Gary, Indiana; grandchildren, Loryn, Laila and Jaxon Higginbotham, and Ethan Donald; niece, Lynette Ross; nephew, DeLaron (Katrina) Lowry; grandnieces, Kennedy and Kori Lowry; grandnephews, Bruce Ross, Jr. and DeLaron Lowry, Jr; numerous St. Louis, Missouri in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and devoted neighbors.
